Lire tous les détails

Rising Appalachia brings its deeply rooted, globally minded sound to Charlotte. The band is led by multi-instrumentalist sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith, who built the project from basement recordings in Atlanta and years of busking in New Orleans' French Quarter. Their music fuses Appalachian string-band tradition with folk, soul, hip-hop, classical, and southern gospel, carried by banjos, fiddle, cello, upright bass, baritone guitar, djembe, and world percussion.

Abigail Dowd is also on the bill. The band's shows have a collaborative, arts-driven spirit: through the Rise Collective, a crew of performers, circus artists, fire spinners, poets, aerialists, and educators, they bring acro-yoga, aerial performance, and sound workshops into the same space as the songs. Expect a concert that feels less like a standard show and more like a communal gathering with a global outlook.
