Monolord in Columbus

Monolord are a three-piece doom metal band from Gothenburg, Sweden, built around guitarist-vocalist Thomas V Jager, drummer Esben Willems, and bassist Mika Hakki -- an unchanged lineup since forming in 2013. Early albums Empress Rising and Vaenir established their signature sound: slow, droning, heavily distorted riffs paired with reverb-soaked, almost ghostlike vocals, a combination that made them one of the most respected names to emerge from the 2010s doom revival. Later records Rust and No Comfort cemented that reputation through relentless global touring alongside major names in the genre. Their sixth full-length, Neverending, arrived in 2026 via Relapse Records, produced by Sylvia Massy -- known for her work with Tool, System of a Down, and Johnny Cash -- adding a new layer of sonic weight to the band's sound. This Columbus date brings that new material into a live set alongside older favorites, aimed squarely at doom and stoner-metal fans who want the volume and the low end turned all the way up.
