Redline: Cult Anime Racing Classic in Sacramento

Redline brings Takeshi Koike's hand-drawn sci-fi racing anime to the big screen in Sacramento. The story follows hotshot driver JP as he enters the brutal Redline race, held only once every five years, while maneuvering around gangsters, crooked politicians, and his growing attraction to rival racer Sonoshee.

The film took seven years to develop and is built on more than 100,000 hand-drawn frames, giving it a dense, kinetic look that helped it become a cult favorite after its initial run. Voice work from Takuya Kimura and Yû Aoi anchors the action, which moves from the Yellowline qualifier to the dangerous Roboworld circuit.
