Wunderhorse (16 and Over)

Aperçu

British rock band Wunderhorse brings their raw, emotive sound to Denver. Formed in 2020 by frontman Jacob Slater, the band has evolved from a solo project into a full quartet, with Slater on vocals and guitar, Harry Fowler on guitar, Pete Woodin (later replaced by Seb Byford) on bass, and Jamie Staples on drums. Their music, described as a blend of blues, garage, and indie rock, has drawn comparisons to 1990s alt-rock and earned critical acclaim.

Their debut album *Cub* (2022) and sophomore release *Midas* (2024) showcase Slater's introspective songwriting, touching on themes of youth, love, and self-destruction. The band has shared stages with acts like Fontaines D.C., Pixies, and Foals, and performed at Glastonbury Festival. In 2025, they won Best Group at the Rolling Stone UK Awards and released the chart-topping single "The Rope."

Slater has cited Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Elliott Smith, and Morphine as influences. Critics have called the band's albums "a brilliant catalogue of teenage life" and "melodic reflection from a man growing into himself."
