Lire tous les détails

The Met Orchestra makes a rare Paris appearance under its music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin for a programme devoted entirely to Richard Strauss. The evening pairs the symphonic poem *Ein Heldenleben* with orchestral suites from *Der Rosenkavalier* and the final scene of *Salome*, featuring soprano Elza van den Heever.

Nézet-Séguin has led the Met Orchestra since 2018 and returns each season to conduct this ensemble, with which he shares a deep operatic affinity. The closing scene of *Salome* — where the princess kisses the severed lips of Jokanaan — is described as a remarkable "death of love," a tone poem with voice that showcases Strauss's lyrical genius.

The concert takes place at the Philharmonie de Paris, a venue known for its exceptional acoustics and modern design. This is the first of two Met Orchestra concerts in the city, opening the season with a powerful statement.
