על Carolina Ballet
The company presents a repertoire spanning classical story ballets and contemporary works, and has staged more than 100 world premieres. Notable productions include stagings of Handel's Messiah (1998), Carmina Burana (2001), and Tempest Fantasy (2007), alongside a recurring annual production of The Nutcracker. Performances are held primarily at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.
Under Weiss, the company expanded considerably, growing to 38 dancers across eight programs with an annual budget of roughly $6.0 million. Its roster includes principal dancers, soloists, corps de ballet members, and apprentices. In 2018, the organization established the School of Carolina Ballet to train the next generation of dancers.
Zalman Raffael succeeded Weiss as artistic director and chief executive in 2019, working alongside executive director Michele Weathers to lead the company's programming.
