Charanga La Reserva in Madrid's Cerro del Tío Pío

Charanga La Reserva brings its lively street-band sound to Parque Cerro del Tío Pío in Madrid's Puente de Vallecas district. Formed in October 1990, the group has spent 35 years performing at carnivals, neighborhood gatherings, parades, and dances, with a repertoire that spans pasacalles, salsa, and pasodobles. The ensemble now counts 19 members, including percussionists, clarinets, trumpets, saxophones, trombones, and a bombardino, with a balanced mix of nine women and ten men.

Attendees can expect a free, open-air celebration as the band parades through the park, filling the air with upbeat rhythms. It's a chance to experience a beloved local tradition that has been part of Vallecas's musical identity since the 1980s, when similar groups first emerged. The performance is part of the 'Ciclo charangas' series, offering a genuine slice of neighborhood culture in one of Madrid's iconic viewpoints.
