Corazón de Agua - Retiro

Corazón de Agua brings the sounds of the Andes to Madrid's Retiro district. Micaela Chauque, an Argentine singer, aerophonist and composer, blends original songs with Andean melodies and contemporary influences, using traditional instruments like the quena and sikus. Her music celebrates identity, territory and cultural memory, with a strong focus on the value of water and the connection to nature.

This event is part of the Multiculturas festival, a city-wide programme running from 1 to 24 October across various Madrid districts. The festival highlights cultural diversity and promotes intercultural dialogue and citizen participation. The evening includes a 40-minute concert followed by a 30-minute talk, offering a deeper insight into Chauque's work and the traditions that inspire it.

Chauque is a leading figure in a new generation of Argentine folk musicians. Her album *Jallalla* won the 2019 Gardel Award for Best Female Folk Album. Now based in Tilcara, Jujuy, she continues to explore the rich musical heritage of the Andes while bringing a fresh, contemporary perspective to her performances.
