1001 Noites – Irmã Santomense

This open-air theatre production, staged in the Jardins do Bombarda, reimagines the classic *One Thousand and One Nights* through the lens of Santomense culture. The story follows Xerazade as she weaves tales to soothe King Xariar, introducing a cast of colourful characters: a Demon seeking the voice of Angels, a Barber who talks more than he cuts hair, a Young man in love who claims to despise women, a Poor man eating invisible food, and a Tailor working for love until exhaustion.

The performance asks whether Xariar can overcome his destructive impulses and whether the audience can forgive him. With dramaturgy and direction by Miguel Jesus, the production features actors Adozia Cristo, Diogo Rocha, Fabian Bravo, Mick Trovoada, Nicolas Brites, and Rita Brito. The event is free and takes place in the garden setting of the Bombarda estate, offering a unique blend of storytelling and cultural reflection.
