June Crespo: Sculptural Intervention at Kunsthalle Lissabon

June Crespo, a leading Spanish contemporary artist known for her sculptural investigations of body, matter, and architectural space, presents a site-specific intervention at Kunsthalle Lissabon. The exhibition transforms the gallery's basement into an immersive environment where walls become active surfaces of support, containment, and friction. Using industrial materials like ventilation ducts and truck tarpaulins, Crespo creates structures that balance tension and distension, revealing hidden interior pathways.

The subterranean space's scale, density, and intimacy are activated as an additional body within the installation. A sound piece developed in collaboration with Estanis Comella adds an intermittent auditory dimension, enhancing spatial and bodily perception. The exhibition blurs boundaries between organic and industrial, body and construction, inviting visitors to reflect on how we inhabit and are shaped by the spaces around us.
