Vénus: Valentino Garavani Through Joana Vasconcelos' Eyes

This major exhibition at MAAT marks the museum's 10th anniversary with a dialogue between haute couture and contemporary art. Curated by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos, it reimagines the universe of designer Valentino Garavani through monumental textile sculptures and immersive installations.

Visitors can explore over 30 haute couture and prêt-à-porter creations by Valentino Garavani alongside Vasconcelos' iconic works. Highlights include the towering "Valkyrie Venus" textile sculpture, the "Crochet Paintings" series inspired by Josef Hoffmann, and beloved pieces like "Marilyn"—oversized high heels made from pots and lids—and "Jardim do Éden," an immersive artificial flower labyrinth.

The exhibition flows fluidly through MAAT's Galleries 1 and 2, offering a unique architectural context adapted from the original project first presented in Rome. It showcases the creative synergy between two visionary talents.
