Los Mirlos at White Oak Music Hall

Los Mirlos, a Peruvian cumbia band with roots in Amazonian Moyobamba, brings its jungle-inspired sound to Houston. After the founding members relocated from Moyobamba to Lima, they fused cumbia with psychedelic and surf-rock guitars, creating the psychedelic cumbia style that has defined their long career. Their music leans heavily on imagery of the Peruvian jungle, with bright guitar lines and percussion built for dancing.

At White Oak Music Hall, the all-ages crowd can expect a standing-room-only night of cumbia. The band's broad catalogue — from early recordings like El Sonido Selvático to later work such as Corazón Amazónico — shows how they kept their Amazonian identity at the center of the music. Their story also reached the screen in the documentary Mirlo's Dance. Since the room is cashless, concertgoers should bring a debit or credit card for the night.
