Mariachazo: Mariachi Vargas de Tecatitlan & Nuevo Tecatitlan

Houston is set to resonate with the vibrant sounds of mariachi as two legendary ensembles take the stage. Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, founded in 1896 by Gaspar Vargas in Tecalitlán, Jalisco, is one of Mexico's most storied mariachi groups, having appeared in over 200 films and recorded extensively. Joining them is Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan, continuing the tradition under the direction of Carlos Martínez, a former leader of the Vargas group.

Concertgoers can expect the full mariachi experience: a minimum of twelve musicians wielding violins, trumpets, guitarrón, vihuela, and harp, delivering the classic "Sonido Tecalitlán" that blends folk melodies with festive rhythms.
