The Wizard of Oz at Sphere

Step into the Emerald City at Sphere Las Vegas, where the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz has been reimagined as a 4D immersive experience. The film's visuals have been expanded and enhanced with AI-generated imagery, and the score has been re-recorded with an 80-piece orchestra, preserving Herbert Stothart's original compositions. The experience begins in the atrium, designed to resemble sepia-toned Kansas, with replicas of Professor Marvel's cart and the Wizard's hot air balloon, plus displays of original Oz books and ruby slippers.

Inside the auditorium, the 160,000-square-foot screen envelops you in the story. During the tornado scene, wind, fog, and leaves swirl around you, placing you inside the funnel. Butterflies flutter across the theatre in Oz, foam apples fall from the ceiling, and snow falls on the audience when Glinda lifts the poppy spell. Pyrotechnics light up the Wizard's throne room, and life-size flying monkeys soar overhead using UAV technology. After the film, the atrium transforms into a Technicolor Emerald City, where you can interact with a life-sized replica of the Wizard's throne room and his ghostly green head.

This is the third film in the Sphere Experience, following Postcard from Earth and V-U2. It's a unique way to revisit a beloved classic, with sensory effects that make you part of the story.
