Barbara Ruscher is a German cabaret artist and author, born on 9 February 1969 in Rheinbach. She studied music and German for teaching from 1990 to 1997 and has lived in Cologne since 1998. She has performed on German-speaking cabaret stages including the Senftöpfchen, the Pantheon-Theater, the Schmidt Theater and the Internationales Köln Comedy Festival, and earlier played alto saxophone with the Schäl Sick Brass Band.
Her stage programmes include Nackig! Der Kampf ums letzte Hemd (2005), Panierfehler! Ein Fischstäbchen packt aus (2012), Ekstase ist nur eine Phase (2015), Ruscher hat Vorfahrt (2018) and Romantik - aber zack, zack! (2025). Her own website describes her work as stand-up comedy, cabaret and music.
On television she has appeared in WDR's Kabarettfest and Mitternachtsspitzen and in ARD's NUHR im Ersten and Ladies Night, and she moderated extra 3 Spezial: Der reale Irrsinn XXL on NDR in 2016 and 2017. She has written radio columns for WDR 2 and has hosted the HR1 column Ruscher hat Vorfahrt since 2016. Her debut novel Fuck the Möhrchen. Ein Baby packt aus appeared in 2013, and her awards include the Eschweiler Lok newcomer prize (2004) and bronze in the Kabarettbundesliga for the 2011/2012 season.
