She comes from a musical family, studied in the song faculty of the Chopin State Secondary School of Music in Warsaw, and sang with the Nowa Ruda Song and Dance Ensemble. Her work is usually classified as poetic song or sung poetry.

She first gained wider exposure in 1984 at the Przegląd Piosenki Aktorskiej in Wrocław and won a main prize at the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole that year. She received the festival's Grand Prix in 1986 and again in 1995. Her albums include Och, życie kocham cię nad życie (1986), Debiut (1999), Wierzę piosence (2002), Śpiewam życie with the group Kroke (2006) and Nic nie muszę - 25-lecie (2008).

Geppert is known for solo recitals, with the Polish Wikipedia article crediting her with about 3,000 live performances. Her honours include the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis (2007), the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2009), and an Honorary Golden Microphone at the Opole festival in 2014 for lifetime achievement. She has worked with lyricists and writers such as Jacek Cygan, Wojciech Młynarski and Agnieszka Osiecka.
