Francesco Renga (Pierfrancesco Renga) is an Italian singer-songwriter born on 12 June 1968 in Udine and raised in Brescia. His music is classed as pop and pop rock, with alternative rock also listed as a genre. In the 1980s he joined the Brescia band Timoria, then called Precious Time, which won the Deskomusic contest, and he remained with the group until late 1998.
He began his solo career with a self-titled debut album and followed it with Tracce in 2002, Camere con vista in 2004 and Ferro e cartone in 2007, which reached number one in Italy. Later albums include Tempo reale (2014) and Scriverò il tuo nome (2016), both number-one records in Italy, L'altra metà (2019) and, in 2023, RengaNek, a collaboration with Nek.
Renga has taken part in the Sanremo Music Festival many times. He won the Mia Martini critics award in 2001 and won the 55th festival in 2005 with the song Angelo. He returned in 2009, 2012, 2019 and 2021, in 2024 with Nek performing Pazzo di te, and in 2026 with Il meglio di me.
