Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are a professional American football team based in Miami Gardens, Florida, competing in the AFC East division of the National Football League. The franchise was founded on August 16, 1965, by attorney Joe Robbie and actor Danny Thomas as an American Football League expansion team, beginning play in 1966 before joining the NFL through the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.

The Dolphins have won two Super Bowl titles, defeating the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl VII and the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl VIII, capping the 1972 and 1973 seasons respectively. The 1972 team completed the only perfect season in NFL history, finishing 17-0. The franchise also holds five AFC championships and thirteen AFC East division titles.
Head coach Don Shula led the team from 1970 to 1995, building the roster that produced the perfect season and later reached consecutive Super Bowls in 1982 and 1984. Ten players are enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame primarily as Dolphins, including quarterback Dan Marino, fullback Larry Csonka, quarterback Bob Griese, defensive end Jason Taylor, and linebacker Zach Thomas.
The Dolphins play home games at Hard Rock Stadium under owner Stephen M. Ross. The franchise has not matched its earlier championship success in recent decades, with its most recent playoff victory coming in the 2000 season, though it remains one of the NFL's most recognized teams.
