Noah Kahan was born Noah Berkenkamp Kahan in Strafford, Vermont in 1997, and grew up on a tree farm, learning guitar from his father and receiving songwriting encouragement from his mother. He began writing songs at age eight and signed to Republic Records in 2017.
His music blends folk and pop songwriting in the tradition of Paul Simon and Mumford & Sons. After a more pop-oriented debut, Busyhead (2019), he moved toward a folk-centred sound on his third album, Stick Season (2022), whose title track became a UK number-one single and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. His 2026 album The Great Divide debuted atop the Billboard 200.
