Flensburg
Flensburg sits on a fjord at the German-Danish border, its old town built on the rum and herring trade that made it Denmark's second-biggest port until 1864. A working distillery and a museum harbour of traditional wooden ships preserve that history, and a sizeable Danish minority still shapes the city's character.
