Draped – Art of Printed Fabrics is an exhibition dedicated to printed fabrics, an art form that drapes our homes, bodies and memories. The show brings together printed fabrics by 31 designers, from the 1930s to today, with a particular focus on the period when Finnish fabric design was gaining international recognition. Alongside beloved classics, it also features textiles from lesser-known designers.

Both hand-printed and industrially produced fabrics are on display, blending artistic expression with technical innovation. The exhibition opens in a space surrounded by the Bryk & Wirkkala visible storage, where changing exhibitions bring the life’s work of Rut Bryk and Tapio Wirkkala into dialogue with design classics and contemporary artists. Works from Aalto University’s New Landscapes in Textile Design project add a current, research-led layer to the display.

A mobile guide offers deeper background on the works and artists, and guided tours are available for those who want to explore the patterns and techniques in detail. It is a rewarding stop for anyone curious about how colour and pattern shape identity, comfort and belonging.
