Paris Plages: Summer Beach on the Seine

Each summer, the banks of the Seine transform into a temporary urban beach under the Paris Plages scheme. Since 2002, this initiative has brought sand, palm trees, and free activities to the heart of the city, offering a seaside escape for those staying in Paris during the hot months. Visitors can enjoy baby-foot tables set up along the Parc Rives de Seine, with tables of various sizes available for all ages and skill levels.

The event is part of the larger "Paris en Seine" program and runs daily from afternoon to early evening. Beyond the baby-foot, the beaches have historically included features like shuttle ferries, floating pools, and supervised swimming areas. By 2026, the initiative expanded to include five free public swimming sectors, with designated zones in the Seine itself at Bras Marie, Bras de Grenelle, and Quai de Bercy, as well as at Bassin de la Villette and Canal Saint-Martin.

Paris Plages has become a beloved summer tradition, attracting millions of visitors each year.
