Saturday 29 August 2026 brings the Feast of St Bartholomew to Ħal-Għargħur, a small village in the Mosta region honouring its patron saint. This traditional Maltese festa features a solemn procession carrying St Bartholomew's statue through decorated streets, often accompanied by a marching brass band club. Colourful lights, bunting, and religious imagery adorn buildings and balconies as the village celebrates.
Throughout the day, food stalls serve traditional Maltese specialities: qubbajt (nougat), imqaret (fried date pastries), and seasonal local fare. The late-August timing falls within Malta's peak festa season, when villages across the islands hold their traditional celebrations.
As evening descends, fireworks — ground-based petards and aerial displays — burst overhead in celebration, closing out Ħal-Għargħur's village feast.
