Galeria Belo-Galsterer presents two concurrent solo exhibitions: Ana Velez's *Escape from Freedom* and Pedro Leitão's *O Belo é a Fera*. Velez's show borrows its title from Erich Fromm's classic work, featuring a black-and-white cover image from the 1941 US edition. Inside, hanging mobile objects invite visitors to explore, leading to a striking panel of 20 drawings in black, anthracite, and yellow, where dripping paint creates a mesmerizing, almost hallucinatory effect. Opposite, 20 Polaroids on Polaroid Reclaimed Green Film offer a counterpart, with translated versions of Fromm's book in 20 languages.

Leitão's *O Belo é a Fera* draws inspiration from anthropologist Lúcia van Velthem's study of the Wayana people in the Amazon, centered on the myth of Tuluperê, the primordial serpent. His recent work, informed by a journey through the Amazon, includes tapestries, drawings, and paintings imbued with the spirit of the rainforest. The exhibition runs in two parts: June 18 to July 18 and September 9 to October 3, open Wednesday to Saturday from 2 PM to 7 PM.
