Bruno Zhu's solo exhibition "Belas Artes" at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation's Centro de Arte Moderna confronts the power discourses inherent in museum practice through a conceptual approach. Influenced by fashion design, publishing, and scenography, Zhu's work starts from the object to explore notions of autonomy, authorship, consumption, and power.
The installation surprises visitors with a succession of four interconnected, entirely distinct spaces. Three of these spaces present a selection of works from the CAM Collection, as the exhibition is part of a programming line that invites artists to interact with the collection and create new readings. Zhu focuses on deconstructing the hierarchies of power and taste that structure museum practices.
This is a must-see for contemporary art enthusiasts visiting Lisbon, offering a thought-provoking experience that challenges traditional museum narratives. The exhibition runs from February to July 2026 at the iconic Gulbenkian Foundation.
