EXIT festival and the Serbian Athens
Novi Sad sits on the Danube below Petrovaradin Fortress, a large 18th-century Habsburg-era stronghold that also hosts the EXIT music festival each summer. Its old town centre keeps the 19th-century architecture rebuilt after 1848, giving the city a calmer, more provincial feel than Belgrade.
