The Washington, D.C., duo of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton mix dub, acid jazz, reggae, Indian classical, Middle Eastern music, hip hop, electronica and Brazilian bossa nova into a style shaped by club culture and chill-out rooms.
The pair met at D.C.'s Eighteenth Street Lounge, where a shared love of dub, bossa nova, reggae and jazz led to a record label and a long run of albums, from Sounds from the Thievery Hi-Fi to The Richest Man in Babylon and The Cosmic Game. Their records feature a rotating cast of guest vocalists, and their concerts carry a relaxed, worldly atmosphere.
