A Birthday Tribute to John Coltrane with Derrick Douget, Ricardo Pascal & Trevarri 2026

Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro hosts a special birthday tribute to John Coltrane, celebrating the music and legacy of one of jazz's most influential figures. The evening brings together three New Orleans saxophonists—Derek Douget, Ricardo Pascal, and Trevarri Huff-Boone—each bringing their own distinctive voices to Coltrane's compositions. From his groundbreaking work in bebop, hard bop, and modal jazz to his later explorations of spirituality and free improvisation, Coltrane's enduring influence is honored through powerful melodies, deep grooves, and adventurous improvisation.

Douget, a celebrated saxophonist raised in Gonzales, began playing at age 10 and was mentored by Ellis Marsalis and Harold Battiste. His career includes performances with Nicholas Payton, Terence Blanchard, and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. The ensemble also features Jason Marsalis on drums, Dwight Fitch on piano, and Jason Stewart on bass. The intimate setting of the Music Room offers a focused concert experience, with the adjacent Dining Room open for dinner before the show.
