Arisa, born Rosalba Pippa on 20 August 1982 in Genoa and raised in Pignola, Basilicata, is an Italian pop singer who broke through at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2009. She won that year's Newcomers section with "Sincerità," which also earned her the Mia Martini Critics' Award, launching a recording career built on emotive vocal pop.
Arisa returned to Sanremo as a competitor in 2012 with "La notte," finishing second, and won the festival outright in 2014 with "Controvento." Alongside her music, she has become a fixture of Italian television, coaching on The Voice and serving as a judge on X Factor Italy and Amici di Maria De Filippi, and in 2021 she won the celebrity dance competition Ballando con le Stelle.
