System of a Down are an Armenian-American metal band formed in Glendale, California, in 1994, comprising Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan. Their unpredictable, politically charged sound blends thrash intensity with folk melodies.

Their 2001 album "Toxicity", featuring "Chop Suey!" and "Aerials", topped the US charts and made them one of the defining metal acts of the 2000s. Their rare reunion shows and festival headline slots sell out fast across Europe.
