Shared Tongue: A Panel on Cypriot Dialects

This full-day event at the Ledra Palace Hotel in the UN Buffer Zone of Nicosia celebrates the rich linguistic diversity of Cypriot dialects. Attendees can expect interactive presentations, games, and a panel discussion featuring dialect experts Dr. Spyros Armostis, Dr. Elena Ioannidou, and Halil Karapaşaoğlu.

The collaborative atmosphere brings together language enthusiasts, researchers, and the curious from all ages and backgrounds. The programme is designed for learning and exchange in a welcoming, multicultural setting, with activities that explore both Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot varieties.

Organised in partnership with United Youth of Cyprus, CyLingo Dictionary, Rhomios, and Abdi Lalan’ın Dadesteği, and co-funded by the European Union, the event offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with Cyprus’s linguistic heritage.
