De Mitgeres a Façanes: Sant Andreu Exhibition

This itinerant exhibition in Barcelona's Sant Andreu district showcases the results of an international ideas competition promoted by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe and Barcelona City Council, tied to the city's designation as UNESCO-UIA World Capital of Architecture 2026. The competition invited young architects from around the world to propose interventions on ten party walls, one in each district, aiming to leave a lasting urban mark. For each site, the jury selected a winning proposal and awarded second and third prizes among the projects received. The selected interventions will be realized during 2026 as part of the official program, forming a tangible legacy of Barcelona 2026.

The exhibition also traces the development of Barcelona's party wall remodeling plan, launched twenty-five years ago to address the urban transformations that leave these anonymous dividing walls exposed. Visitors can explore how these walls, originally boundaries between properties, can become visible due to urban planning changes, affecting the continuity of the landscape and the coherence of the built fabric. The show is part of a broader program at the Canòdrom, including related debates and routes, and is sponsored by HP. The exhibition is accessible for people with reduced mobility and presented in Catalan.
