Arte y coraje: La Gran Kermés de la copla y el cuplé

Arte y coraje brings the warmth of traditional Spanish song and dance to Madrid's Puente de Vallecas district. This free outdoor event, staged in the historic Plaza de Puerto Rubio (formerly Plaza Vieja), is a celebration of copla and cuplé — the passionate, narrative-driven musical styles that have defined generations of Spanish popular culture.

The evening is headlined by Grupo Arte y Estilo, a volunteer ensemble drawn from the city's municipal senior centers. Under the direction of Luis Mayoral Marugán, the group performs choreographed routines to sevillanas, coplas, and other beloved songs from their youth. Their performances are a heartfelt expression of community spirit, bringing art to local residences, day centers, and theaters across the district.
