Dessin Animalier et Botanique au Jardin des Plantes

This drawing workshop takes place within the historic Ménagerie du Jardin des Plantes, offering participants the chance to practice observational drawing from live animals. Led by Claudio Locatelli, a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and a professional sculptor and draftsman, the sessions focus on capturing proportions, movement, and the unique character of each species through exercises ranging from quick sketches to detailed studies.

The small group size—limited to 12 participants—ensures personalized guidance suitable for both beginners and experienced drawers. The workshop covers techniques such as watercolor, pen, wash, and pencil, with an emphasis on building a strong foundation in drawing construction and expressive line work. Participants should bring their own materials, including a sketchbook, graphite pencils, and optional watercolor supplies.
