Killarney is a small town in County Kerry beside Killarney National Park, home to lakes, oak woodland and Muckross House, and is the main base for driving the Ring of Kerry. It is geared almost entirely around tourism, with jaunting cars and hiking trails into the surrounding mountains.

The most popular sights, with 2026 entrance fees. Prices are adult admission — cheapest at the gate. Many of the best things are free.

Muckross House & Gardens	€9	2-3 hours (house + gardens); half day with Farms	19th-century Victorian mansion inside the national park, furnished and open by guided/self-guided tour, set in formal gardens on the shore of Muckross Lake; the adjoining Traditional Farms recreate 1930s rural life. The most-visited single site in Killarney.
Ross Castle	€5	1 hour	Restored 15th-century tower house on the shore of Lough Leane, once stronghold of the O'Donoghue clan; interior only accessible by timed OPW guided tour. The bawn, lakeshore and grounds are free to walk, and it's the departure point for lake boat trips and Gap of Dunloe boat tours.
Torc Waterfall	Free	30-45 minutes (longer if climbing to the mountain viewpoint)	20-metre cascade a short, easy walk from the road (Muckross/Kenmare road side of the national park), with a steeper path continuing up to Torc Mountain for wider lake views. One of the most photographed spots in the park.
Muckross Abbey	Free	20-30 minutes	Roofless 15th-century Franciscan friary ruin with a famous central yew tree in the cloister, a short walk from Muckross House. Atmospheric and usually much quieter than the House itself.
Gap of Dunloe	Free	Half day (walk/cycle) to full day (with boat return)	Dramatic glacial mountain pass just outside Killarney (start point Kate Kearney's Cottage, about 10km/20 min from town), walked, cycled or ridden by pony and trap, often combined with a boat trip back across the lakes to Ross Castle. Best done as a half/full-day trip rather than squeezed into a town visit.
Ring of Kerry	Free	Full day	DAY TRIP. The 179km signposted coastal drive around the Iveragh Peninsula (Killarney-Killorglin-Cahersiveen-Waterville-Sneem-Kenmare-Killarney), taking in Kerry Cliffs, Skellig Ring viewpoints, Ladies View and Moll's Gap. Doable self-drive in a (long) day from Killarney, or by guided coach tour.
Dingle Peninsula & Slea Head Drive	Free	Full day	DAY TRIP (roughly 1.5 hours each way from Killarney). Coastal loop past Inch Beach, Dingle town, the Slea Head Drive's beehive huts and Gallarus Oratory, with views to the Blasket Islands. A longer, less crowded alternative or companion to the Ring of Kerry.
Lakes of Killarney Boat Trip	Varies	1 hour	Open-boat trip across Lough Leane and through the connecting channels, usually run between Ross Castle and Lord Brandon's Cottage (the classic way to finish a Gap of Dunloe outing), with local boatmen narrating history and folklore along the way.
Jaunting Car (Pony & Trap) Ride	Varies	1 hour	Traditional horse-drawn carriage ride through Killarney National Park with a local 'jarvey' driver-guide, typically looping from town past Muckross House and Muckross Abbey. A classic, low-effort way to see the park's highlights.
