Hiromi: The Trio Project Featuring James Genus And Simon Phill

Hiromi Uehara is a Japanese jazz pianist and prodigy who began lessons at six, was introduced to jazz by her teacher at eight, and by seventeen was invited on stage with Chick Corea after a chance meeting in Tokyo. She later studied at Berklee College of Music under mentor Ahmad Jamal and signed to jazz label Telarc before graduating. In 2011 she launched her Trio Project with drummer Simon Phillips and bassist Anthony Jackson, releasing the acclaimed albums Voice and Move, with the group's 2016 record Spark reaching number one on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart. This performance reunites the long-running Trio Project format with Phillips returning alongside bassist James Genus, continuing Hiromi's reputation for technically ferocious, genre-crossing piano-trio jazz.
