Cirque du Soleil: Mystere is a Arts & Theatre / Performance Art / Performance Art event at Treasure Island - NV in Las Vegas.
Mystère is a resident Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas, Nevada, held in a custom theatre at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. First performed on 25 December 1993, it is the company's longest running show. The production features a mixture of circus skills, dance, elaborate sets, opera, worldbeat music, and street theatre-style comedy, with a musical score composed by René Dupéré and Benoît Jutras.
The show was created under the direction of Franco Dragone and originally planned for Caesars Palace with a Greek and Roman mythology theme, but casino executives scrapped the plan as too risky. Treasure Island picked up the show three years later, making Mystère the first Cirque du Soleil show with its own permanent theater. The theater seats 1,541 audience members and features a stage floor made from recycled tires and sneakers for bounce.
Attendees can expect a cast of fantastic characters, including Inti X & Y (the seeds of life), Red Bird, Les Laquais, Brian Le Petit, and more. The show includes acts like Korean plank, Chinese pole, and taiko drums created by Asano Taiko, with the largest drum being a 6-foot-diameter ōdaiko that cannot be removed from the theatre. The giant inflatable snail puppet Alice grows throughout the show, controlled by four puppeteers from inside.
