Mariachazo in Reno

Mariachazo brings two mariachi powerhouses to Reno: the legendary Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, founded in 1896 in Tecalitlán, Jalisco, and the equally accomplished Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan. With a legacy spanning over a century, Mariachi Vargas has been a cornerstone of Mexican folk music, evolving through generations under iconic figures like Rubén Fuentes and current director Carlos Martínez. The ensemble's sound, rooted in the traditional 'Sonido Tecalitlán,' features violins, trumpets, guitarrón, vihuela, and harp, creating a full and dynamic musical experience.

Attendees can expect an evening filled with the passionate rhythms and harmonies that define mariachi. The performance highlights the rich cultural heritage of Jalisco, from the classic son to contemporary interpretations. Mariachi Vargas currently consists of fourteen members, including six violins, three trumpets, and a harp, ensuring a rich orchestral texture.
