Robert Ellis is a Texas-raised singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, born in Lake Jackson and based for years in Houston before relocating to Fort Worth, where he now runs his own recording studio. His songwriting bridges the folky, literary storytelling of Townes Van Zandt with rowdier honky-tonk instincts, a combination that ran through 2019's raucous Texas Piano Man and the more introspective, fatherhood-inflected Yesterday's News in 2023. Ellis works across country, folk, jazz and pop without settling fully into any one lane, and he's earned recognition in Fort Worth as an adopted local fixture of the city's music scene. With support from Philip Bowen, the Columbus show on October 7, 2026 offers a stripped-down evening centered on Ellis's genre-crossing songcraft and Texas storytelling tradition.
