Ausbilder Schmidt is the stage character of the German comedian and actor Holger Müller, born in 1969 in Idar-Oberstein. He trained as an industrial clerk and then completed 15 months of military service in the Luftwaffe, where he conceived the drill-sergeant character. He joined the Charles Atlas theatre group in 1989, founded the comedy troupe Les Hot Banditos in 1994 and graduated from the Köln Comedy Schule in 1999. He has worked as a full-time comedian since 2001.
His stage programmes include the Ausbilder Schmidt Show (2004), Zum Brüllen komisch (2009), Schlechten Menschen geht es immer gut! (2014), Unkraut vergeht nicht – 25 Jahre Anschiss (2024) and Top Lusche de Luxe (2026). The albums Morgen ihr Luschen! (2003) and Blümchensex (2005) reached numbers 25 and 32 in Germany, and he published the book Das Handbuch für Luschen in 2006.
The feature film Morgen, ihr Luschen! Der Ausbilder-Schmidt-Film began principal photography in Berlin and Brandenburg in July 2007, with Mike Eschmann directing and a cast that included Axel Stein, Ingo Appelt and Bernhard Hoecker, and was released in 2008. In 2009 he opened his own cabaret venue, the Sehr kleines Haus in Pilsum, East Frisia. He performed Bundeswehr troop-support shows in Afghanistan in 2010 and was artistic director of the Kleinkunstpreis Ostfriesland from 2013 to 2018.
