Ray Wilson was born on 8 September 1968 in Dumfries, Scotland, and is a singer and guitarist. His early band Guaranteed Pure released the album Swing Your Bag in 1993. In 1994 he became the lead vocalist of Stiltskin, whose debut single 'Inside' reached number one in the UK and in several other European countries.
After Phil Collins announced his departure from Genesis in March 1996, Wilson became the band's lead singer, and the album Calling All Stations (1997) reached number two in the UK. He toured Europe with Genesis, including a headline slot at Rock am Ring in 1998, and left the band around 1999. In a 2024 interview with Prog he said he remained glad to have been part of the band.
Wilson began his solo career in the early 2000s, releasing the albums Change (2003), The Next Best Thing (2004), Propaganda Man (2008), Chasing Rainbows (2013) and The Weight of Man (2021). He rejoined Stiltskin for the album She in 2006. He moved to Poznań, Poland, in 2008, and his Genesis Classic live set, recorded at the Poznań Philharmonic Hall, was released in 2011.
