Roberto Capitoni is a German-Italian comedian born in 1962 in Isny im Allgäu, where he grew up and went to school. He has performed on stage and in television shows since 1981 and lives in Lahnstein near Koblenz. A regional newspaper report describes him as half Italian by descent and notes that he celebrated his 40th stage anniversary during the coronavirus period.
His comedy plays on the contrast between the thrifty Swabian and the Italian, and the same report mentions a recurring "second voice", the Sicilian Uncle Luigi, who gives him advice. He has co-organised the alternative carnival show Die Blaue Bütt in Koblenz since 1996 and has hosted a monthly comedy club at Café Hahn since 1995. He regularly hosts for the Quatsch Comedy Clubs in Berlin, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart, and has moderated the Swiss Comedy Award and a Badesalz open-air tour.
His solo programmes include Ein kleiner Italiener (2004), Italiener weinen nicht (2011), Spätzle, Sex und Dolce Vita (2019) and Italiener leben länger... außer mit Betonschuhen (2021). He voiced the lemmings in the animated films Der kleine Eisbär (2001) and Der kleine Eisbär 2 (2005) and has published the books Ich mach Dir Betonschuhe (2010) and Vom Punk zum Comedian (2020). His awards include the Bremer Comedy Preis (jury prize, 2017) and the Gelsenkirchener Kabarettpreis (2022).
