City guide
Kendal
Kendal is a grey-limestone market town known as the Gateway to the Lakes, just outside the Lake District National Park boundary. Its wool-trading past survives in the narrow yards off the high street, and it is best known for Kendal Mint Cake, the glucose confectionery used on Everest and polar expeditions.
