International Film Festival Rotterdam 2027

The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) returns in 2027 for its annual celebration of independent and experimental cinema. Founded in June 1972 by Huub Bals, the festival has long been a champion of alternative, innovative, and non-commercial films, with a special emphasis on works from the Far East and developing countries. Screenings take place across multiple iconic Rotterdam venues, including Pathé, De Doelen, Cinerama, and LantarenVenster, offering a true city-wide festival experience. The festival also awards the prestigious VPRO Tiger Awards to young directors making their first or second film, and the Hubert Bals Fund supports filmmakers from developing countries.
