Guča Trumpet Festival 2026: Serbia's Dragačevo Brass Assembly
Поделиться
Guča is a small town in western Serbia's Dragačevo region that hosts the world's largest brass-band festival every August: dozens of trumpet orchestras competing over several days, hundreds of thousands of visitors, and a tradition running since 1961. It is Serbia's most internationally documented folk-village festival — distinct in kind from the modern electronic (EXIT) and craft-beer festivals Wanderistan already covers for this country.

Serbia's own GSC numbers make the case for filling this gap: just eight pages produced 49 clicks in the most recent nine-day window (Finding 4 of the GSC brief), the best per-page efficiency of any served country. This guide adds the one major traditional-festival category missing from that small but effective footprint.
Guča Trumpet Festival 2026
| Event | Location | 2026 dates | Recurring rule | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guča Trumpet Festival (Dragačevo Sabor), 65th edition | Guča, western Serbia | Fri 7 – Sun 9 Aug 2026 | Held annually in early August; the exact weekend is set by the organising committee each year, no single fixed-weekday rule found | Confirmed for 2026 (two independent sources agree on 7-9 Aug; see note below on a third, conflicting source) |
What Guča actually is
The festival runs Friday through Sunday: an opening concert on Friday, all-night street celebration and orchestra performances through Saturday, and the trumpet-orchestra competition itself on Sunday, judged for the coveted Golden Trumpet. Expect open-air grilling, plum brandy (rakija), and brass music from dawn to dawn across the town's streets and the Alkarsko-style assembly grounds.
Sourcing note: guca.rs (the festival's own listing) and trubaci.net both independently state 7-9 August 2026 for the 65th edition. A third source (putovnica.net) states the competition falls on "Sunday 11 August" — but 11 August 2026 is a Tuesday, not a Sunday, so that date is internally inconsistent and not used here. Confirm directly with guca.rs before finalising travel plans.
Getting there
Guča itself has no Wanderistan city page — it's a small town roughly 180km south of Belgrade, near Čačak. The closest Wanderistan-covered gateway cities are Belgrade (nearest international airport) and Novi Sad.
