Mitchum Yacoub at Music Box San Diego

Mitchum Yacoub brings his explosive blend of Afrobeat, Cumbia, and Soul to the Music Box in San Diego. An Egyptian-American multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ, Yacoub has built a reputation for strong, repetitive grooves layered with Afro-Latin percussion and vibrant horn lines that call all dancers to the floor.

Since his first live performances in late 2019, Yacoub has shared stages with roots music heavyweights like The Wailers, Antibalas, and Jungle Fire. In 2022, his group supported Seun Kuti across six U.S. shows, with Yacoub trading on percussion and drum kit for Kuti's band Egypt 80. His debut album, "Living High in the Brass Empire" (2023), showcases his unique approach to roots music, forming explosive intersections of Afrobeat, Cumbia, and Soul.
