He worked as a radio presenter for WDR 4 and RPR and was the station voice of Antenne Bayern for years. On television he became known nationally through the RTL comedy show 7 Tage, 7 Köpfe and later starred in the sitcom Bernds Hexe. From 2007 he moved to WDR, where he hosted the ARD show Deutschland lacht and, until 2016, the quiz show Das NRW-Duell.
On stage he has toured with programmes including Mundwinkel hoch (2011 to 2014), Wer heiratet, teilt sich die Sorgen ... (from 2014) and Hurra! Ab Montag ist wieder Wochenende! (from 2019). He has been active in Cologne carnival since 1988 with his Werbefachmann character, and his singles such as Hörst du die Regenwürmer husten? (2008) reached the German charts. He has also written books, including a series of camping crime novels, and received the Ehren-Hurz in 2022.
