نبذة عن Fences

Set in 1957 in Pittsburgh's Hill District, the play centers on Troy Maxson, a 53-year-old garbage collector and former Negro leagues baseball player whose career ended before he could reach the major leagues. Troy's bitterness over that lost opportunity, and the barriers of racism that caused it, shape his strained relationships with his wife Rose and his son Cory, who dreams of a college football career Troy refuses to support.

The original 1987 Broadway production, starring James Earl Jones as Troy and Mary Alice as Rose, won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, along with acting Tonys for Jones and Alice. A 2010 Broadway revival directed by Kenny Leon, starring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, won the Tony for Best Revival of a Play along with Best Actor and Best Actress.

Washington and Davis reprised their roles for a 2016 film adaptation, which Washington also directed; the film received four Academy Award nominations and won Davis the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
