قراءة كل التفاصيل

This exhibition at the Disseny Hub Barcelona focuses on the early textile works of Aurèlia Muñoz, a key figure in the renewal of contemporary textile art in Catalonia. It brings together three pieces from the museum's collection: the tapestry *La Barcelona gòtica* (1961) and two tablecloths from 1962, printed by José Duran on serigraphed jute burlap. These works reveal her early interest in the expressive qualities of materials, textures, and the plastic possibilities of textile work.

Muñoz, trained at the Escola d'Arts Aplicades and the Escola Massana in Barcelona, developed an artistic practice spanning over five decades, renewing ancestral techniques such as embroidery, knotting (macramé), and papermaking, in dialogue with the avant-gardes of her time. Around 1960, she began working with burlap, a decision that acted as a trigger for her research in contemporary textile art. The exhibition serves as a complement to the larger exhibition *Aurèlia Muñoz. Ens* at MACBA, offering visitors the chance to discover some of the first gestures of a creator who made textiles a field of radical, poetic, and deeply contemporary experimentation.
