Miradas Diversas: Urban Sketchers Madrid

The exhibition 'Miradas diversas' presents a drawn chronicle of the library and its surroundings, created by members of the Urban Sketchers Madrid collective. These works, made at the Biblioteca Ana María Matute, are part of the project 'Una Mirada sobre las Bibliotecas Públicas de Madrid'. Visitors can see how the artists capture their environment through direct observation, using various artistic media to reflect a specific moment and place.

Urban sketching goes beyond preparatory drawing or plein-air art; it is an expression that captures what the author perceives in a given instant, often including notes on location, date, sensations, and colors. The Urban Sketchers movement began in 2007 when journalist and illustrator Gabriel Campanario created an online forum inviting sketchers to share their works drawn on location in cities, parks, cafeterias, libraries, and homes. This exhibition offers a unique glimpse into the everyday life of a public library through the eyes of these artists.
